Alice (Kraft) Steinle was born in 1908 about twelve miles southeast of Shattuck, Oklahoma. Alice married Fred Steinle in 1925 and the couple moved to Higgins, Texas. They had five children. They moved to Shattuck, Oklahoma, in 1972, where Alice continues to reside. Laveta (Steinle) Estrada was born to Alice and Fred Steinle in 1930 in Higgins, Texas. Her paternal grandparents were Germans from Russia that moved to Kansas, and her mother’s family was originally from Kansas but moved to Oklahoma. Laveta grew up speaking German until she started school.
