Description
Angela Vivar Romero, a 2008 graduate of Oklahoma State University (OSU), was born in Oklahoma and is the daughter to Mexican immigrants. She describes what life was like growing up between two cultures, Mexican and American, and how she used those experiences in her work. She recalls deciding to attend OSU, financing her education, and transitioning to college life as a minority student and as a first-to-go generation. She talks about her involvement with the Hispanic Student Association at OSU and her career path back to OSU where she works with the RISE (retention initiative for student excellence) program and is manager of Diversity Academic Support. This is part of the Latino Americans: 500 Years of History project.
