In her first interview, Anita Arnold, executive director of Black Liberated Arts Center, Incorporated, talks about her childhood growing up in the country on her family's farm as well as her interests in the arts at a young age. She describes her experience attending the all-Black Fredrick Douglass High School in Oklahoma City and working with the Urban League to open up more employment opportunities at Western Electric. Arnold outlines her educational background and career path at Western Electric, Bell, AT&T, and the U.S. Postal Service and her experience as one of the only Black women in those professional fields. She talks about retiring in New Jersey and managing a band before eventually returning to Oklahoma.
