Description

Ann Hargis and Kendria Cost, co-founders of Pete’s Pet Posse, discuss establishing the pet therapy program at Oklahoma State University (OSU). They recall the early years, selecting the first eight teams of owner/handlers, building relationships for buy-in to the program, and enjoying the process of building the program. They talk about the value the dogs bring to the campus, how they absorb stress and sadness, and how they bring joy. They explain how people and their pets are selected and note some of the events the teams have helped with through the years. They note their own pets, Scruff and Charlie, acknowledge the success of trading cards for the program, and appreciate the Celebration Garden recognizing the importance of Pete’s Pet Posse.
