B.K. Silverlake was born in 1946 to Emma and Raymond Duke, a circus family. She outlined their history with various circuses and her life with Melvin Silverlake, also from a circus family. B.K. explained her jobs from performing to billposting to running the cookhouse to managing the front office. She described life on the road, life between circuses, challenges of owning and managing Fisher Brothers Circus, circus community, circus lingo, and perceptions of the public. She also talks about her long involvement with the circus and her role in establishing the Showmen's Association in Hugo, Oklahoma.
