Description
Barbara Edler, from Keokuk, Iowa, taught for forty years. Teaching being her passion, Barbara shared the challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic brought to her classroom. Frustration, lack of communication and mixed emotions were some of the issues that impacted the most. The fact that teaching became more difficult after moving to virtual learning brought a significant lack of motivation, and she would recommend teachers to find ways to guide students to look for their strengths. Barbara mentions that writing was a way to express her feelings and take out her emotions with such a positive and welcoming group. Therefore, she found writing to be therapeutic in some way. Poetry helped Barbara to reflect on personal experiences and to go through grief.
