Description
Behnaz Sorahbian talks about her childhood and early exposure to art in and out of school in Tehran, Iran. She describes the support she received from her mother and father to pursue art and her experience pursuing a bachelors in applied chemistry and a masters in art studies. Behnaz discusses some of the difficulties she faced in pursuing an art career in Iran and how she eventually found a global audience through the help of a women's artist association, shipping many of her works to the United States to be sold through family. She describes coming to the United States in 2010 and getting established in the Oklahoma art scene at Joy Reed Belt art gallery and hosting classes of her own to aspiring artists. Behnaz reflects on her work and the various mediums she uses, the meaning behind different pieces, and some of her art series over the years.
