Christel Turek was born in Essen, Germany in 1933. She married Heinz Turek on February 28, 1953 in Essen and the couple proceeded to have six children. After visiting family, the Tureks realized there was more space and opportunity in Oklahoma. In 1974, they moved to Choctaw, Oklahoma. Two years later, they began leasing a small hamburger joint that was for sale. In the beginning, they served only one German dish along with American fare, but they slowly began introducing more and more German dishes to the menu. Old Germany is now known far and wide for its unique ambiance and the delicious German food waitresses serve in traditional German dresses.
