Description
At the time of the interview, Colby Torres had just stepped into an intervention specialist position at Will Rogers Elementary after teaching 3rd and 4th grade. He has served in Oklahoma City inner-city schools and is from Glencoe, Oklahoma, a small rural district north of Stillwater. Colby's grandparents were both teachers. His father is Hispanic and his mother is white, which gives him a unique perspective into the struggles of minority students in public schools, especially in rural schools. Since the Walkout, Colby has become his building's Stillwater Education Association representative.
