Dwayne Roark 06/20/2011

Dwayne Roark was born in Cheyenne, Oklahoma in 1952, the middle child of five. After graduating from Cheyenne High School in 1970, he attended college at Sayre before moving back to Cheyenne. Dwayne’s father Lee Roark was a pilot in World War II. When he returned, he realized the need for a better method of delivering the newspaper. In 1947 he became the first person to deliver The Daily Oklahoman by airplane, which he continued on and off for fourteen years. Dwayne and his brother would later help out. The route included areas of Roger Mills, Ellis, and Beckham Counties as well as a bit of Texas. The last flight delivery was in 1973.
