Description
Ed Kirtley, assistant dean of the College of Engineering, Architecture, and Technology (CEAT) at Oklahoma State University (OSU), discusses his involvement on the CEAT and OSU COVID-19 Incident Management Teams (IMT) as the incident commander. He describes the process of creating the IMT to support the transition to human diagnostic testing at the Oklahoma Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory as well as his role of recruiting and directing people on the team. Kirtley discusses the challenges of overseeing various personnel and organizations across campus through the IMT and the importance of having university policies that clearly define authority in emergency operations. He reflects on the overall success of the IMT and offers advice on improving policies and procedures for emergency operations on college campuses.
