Elizabeth Morgan Reece 04/26/2011

Elizabeth "Liz" Morgan Reece was born and reared in Oklahoma. After graduating from high school she enrolled in the University of Oklahoma and earned a degree in journalism in 1962. Her first job in journalism was in Poteau, Oklahoma where she was a news editor for the Leflore County Sun and the Poteau News. It was in this job that she first met Henry Bellmon. In July of 1962 she accepted an invitation to work in Bellmon’s campaign office. When Bellmon was elected governor, she became a receptionist for him and served in that position throughout his term in office. When he ran and was elected to the US Senate, she traveled to Washington, DC and again worked for him as a caseworker and researcher.
