Description
Elton VanScoder was born in 1918 west of Chattanooga in Tillman County, Oklahoma. He went to elementary school at Pleasant Valley, a one-room school house. His family then moved to Chickasha, where he graduated high school in 1936. After high school he moved with his father and mother to work in a saw mill around Mena, Arkansas. They then moved to West Texas before settling in Tipton, Oklahoma, where Elton lives to this day. His family farmed cotton and wheat, and raised cattle.
