Description
Florence Jones Kemp was born in 1931 in Boley, Oklahoma, an all-black town at the time. She recalls her childhood and learning to cook from her mother. She explains how she came to open Florence’s Restaurant in 1952 in Oklahoma City and talks about some of her clientele and dishes. Kemp also talks about what Boley was like in the 1930s and 1940s and what it was like for her to move from a rural school to a city school as a teenager.
