Ilka Heiskell 04/09/2012

Ilka Heiskell was born in Wiesbaden, Germany, growing up in a community rich in culture and traditions. Ilka’s mother was a homemaker, and her father worked for a Lutheran church and was involved in local politics. He had strong convictions regarding human rights, and was committed to making positive changes wherever he went. The family traveled to other Lutheran churches in Germany, regardless of the political climate, always standing up for their beliefs. After graduating high school in 1979, she took classes in home economics, the arts, psychology, and sociology. In college, she fell in love with an American officer, and they moved to the United States, eventually landing at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas. In Killeen, Ilka met her current husband, Ray, and they moved to Choctaw, Oklahoma, in 1997. In 2008, they moved to Mangum, where they currently reside.
