James Harry Cooley
Description
James Harry Cooley was born in Durant on February 21, 1925. He moved to Oklahoma City in sixth grade and attended Jackson Jr. High and Central High School. He served in the military and was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. He was taken prisoner and was held in Germany as a POW. After liberation he returned to Oklahoma and studied mechanical engineering at the University of Oklahoma. He went on to work as an engineer for Guiberson Corporation in Dallas Texas. In 1961, he established the Jim Cooley Construction Company. He retired in 1990. He died on November 16, 2002.
