"Jim Males, born in 1940 and a retired endocrinologist, discusses his youth growing up in Cheyenne, Oklahoma, during the 1940s and 1950s. He shares memories of his father ""Red"" Males who was instrumental in the early watershed work in Oklahoma. Males describes his father's advocacy and lobbying efforts for the Sandstone Creek Watershed project, the first watershed project in the nation, which had a significant impact on disastrous flooding in the area. He also talks about current conservation issues in relation to his family's 3000 plus acres, including the disappearance of prairie chickens, prairie dog towns, and the influx of wild boars."
