Jimmy and Mary Paul Williams, third-generation owners of the H. W. Payne Home Place, discussed the history of the land and the family that homesteaded it in 1901. Originally the farm was 80 acres and produced wheat, cotton, grain sorghum, horses, and beef and dairy cattle. Jimmy and Mary moved to the farm in 1976 and in 1987, the land was placed in the Conservation Reserve Program, restoring grassland. At the time of the interview the land was held in a family farm corporation (Williams Farms of Gould LLC).
