Description
John Watkins and his sister Mary, along with their mother, Frances, discussed the history of the Watkins Homestead founded in 1901 and the family that claimed it. The original acreage produced cotton, corn, broom corn, cattle, hogs, horses, and mules. William Watkins, who claimed the land, also drilled water wells in the area to supplement the farm income. At the time of the interview several of the old structures were still standing and the farm was producing primarily cattle, wheat, and alfalfa.
