K. Kay Lewis, third-generation owner of the McKemy-Brandes Farm, discussed the history of the land and the family that purchased it in 1892. Even though the family no longer lived on the land, Lewis held a deep connection to the home of her grandparents. She also discussed the evolution of the farming practice and the migration to town she has witnessed in her lifetime. Originally the farm produced wheat, alfalfa, cattle, and mules. At the time of the interview the land was being used to grow wheat and for pastureland.
