Description
Kate Currie is a high school educator in Florence, South Carolina. She discovered her love of teaching while working with horses, and her grandmother influenced her to pursue a degree in education. She works in a small, rural independent school where students feel strongly connected to their community. Kate shared her love of writing, her passion for teaching, and the challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic brought to the profession in the spring to both educators and students. She spoke about the importance of self care and recognizing the humanity of teachers. The time spent writing allowed her to work through the stresses that came with the pandemic.
