Description
LaVerne (Hamburger) Saylor was born in 1923 several miles south of Weatherford, Oklahoma, to Louie and Lydia (Schreiner) Hamburger. Her grandparents had moved to Oklahoma from Russia, and were of German heritage. She attended Missouri Country School until the eighth grade, and then attended Weatherford High School. She graduated in 1942, and due to her acquired typing skills was immediately recruited to work in Washington, D. C.
