Margaretha Harriman was born in 1924 in Rasdorf, Germany. In 1944 Margaretha was drafted to the German army and served for several months. Around November 1944, she made her way back to Rasdorf on foot from Osnabrück by way of Göttingen, which was several hundred miles. Margaretha married Dwayne Harriman, an American serving in the US military in Germany, in 1953. The couple moved to Kentucky, where Margaretha obtained US citizenship, and later lived in Germany and California. After Dwayne’s death, Margaretha moved in 2001 to Coyote Corner, nine miles south of Mangum, Oklahoma, to be with her niece.
