Margaretha Schwabe 04/23/2011

Margaretha Schwabe was born in Rasdorf, Germany in 1949, at a time when the country was trying to recover from the destruction it experienced throughout World War II. She recalls what times were like growing up in Germany in the 1950s, including what measures her family would go through to communicate with their family members who lived only miles away but were separated by the Wall, making them East Germans. Margaretha also talks about studying English and French and how she ultimately became an American citizen. Margaretha now lives outside of Mangum, Oklahoma.
