Mattie Mae Huff 02/27/2011

Mattie Mae Huff was born north of Tipton on June 6, 1915 to Rufus Marian (R. M.) and Nettie (James) Dosher, the last of ten children. She went to school through the eighth grade at Blue, District 86 then attended Tipton High School. In 1932, at age seventeen, she married Richard Huff in Fredrick, Oklahoma. After raising her children, Mattie Mae was encouraged to pursue the position of town treasurer of Tipton. She won her first election and was appointed town treasurer in 1973. She then won ten subsequent elections. In January 2011, after serving for thirty-eight years, she retired from this position at the age of ninety-five, making her quite possibly the oldest elected official in the state of Oklahoma.
