Description
During the 2018 walkouts, Megan Ruby was a middle school science teacher in Tulsa Public Schools. Her narrative recounts her experiences coming to teaching through a traditional teacher education program, her difficulties finding a position ten years before the walkouts when teaching positions in urban areas of Oklahoma were few and far between, and her challenges trying to make ends meet as a teacher. Megan recounts her mixed feelings about the walkouts and why she ended up leaving K12 teaching to pursue an academic career soon after Oklahoma teachers returned to school that spring.
