Orwa Halloush 02/19/2019

Orwa Halloush is an international college student from Irbid, Jordan. Orwa’s primary language is Arabic but is also fluent in English. Growing up in Jordan Orwa attended high school and did odds and ends jobs but nothing serious. He stated that Jordan sheltered a lot of refugees and is a generally safe place. His favorite traditional dish from home is called 'mansaf' which consists of rice, yogurt, and meat. He enjoys Italian food while he’s here more than anything else. The first time he came to the United States was in 2000 and stayed a year before coming back in 2015. Orwa has family in Pennsylvania and stayed with them when he first moved from Jordan. He is fairly new to Oklahoma and Tulsa Community College (TCC) so we had limited information about firsthand experience, but overall he said it has been a pretty smooth process. Orwa explained that this was his first and last year here at TCC and that he was in the ESL program here for a requirement but is looking forward to the experience.
