Pat and Joyce Thornburgh discussed the history of the two homesteads, the Rebecca 'Celeste' Randall Homestead and the William L. Metcalf Homestead, that had merged to form Thornburgh Farms. Pat acquired the homesteads from his maternal and paternal grandparents respectively. In 1972, Pat and Joyce moved to the farm and became full-time farmers in 1974. The original Metcalf homestead produced wheat, oats, barley, alfalfa, cattle, sheep, hogs, horses, and chickens. The Rebecca 'Celeste' Randall Homestead in turn produced very similar crops.
