Robert Harlan Henry was nine years old in 1962 when Henry Bellmon became the first Republican governor in Oklahoma and still has memories of that campaign. He first met Bellmon in 1971 after being selected by the William Randolph Hearst Foundation to be a delegate to the United States Senate. Henry followed Bellmon’s career and became attorney general during Bellmon’s second term as governor of Oklahoma. They developed a close relationship and were treasured friends.
