Sarah Mata earned four degrees from Oklahoma State University (OSU) beginning with a bachelors degree in 2003 and ending with a doctorate in 2014. She recalls growing up surrounded by family and the emphasis they placed on education. Mata explains her educational path and why she continued to go back to school. She discusses the work she was involved in at OSU while she was pursuing her education including her work with minority students, with inclusion and diversity programs, and with undocumented students. Mata talks about her career after leaving OSU and her interest in encouraging under-represented students to enter the STEM fields. This is part of the Latino Americans: 500 Years of History project.
