Description
Searcy Crow is a teacher at Stillwater Junior High School who was very involved in the 2018 walkout and has a variety of perspectives about how the union worked during the walkout. Her mother was a teacher, so Searcy participated in the 1990 teacher walkout with her mom. Searcy also brought her own daughter to the walkout and carried on the tradition. Searcy attended nine out of the ten days of the walkout and discussed the support she got from family and church members, and the community. She was also someone who was interviewed for the news during the walkout. Searcy believes that the walkout is the beginning of a continued movement and even though it is difficult, teachers must stay involved in what is happening locally, regionally, and nationally because teaching is a political act.
