Sharon Edge Martin, author and poet from Southeastern Oklahoma, talks about growing up with two parents who were both preachers. She describes her passion for reading and writing at a young age and writing for her high school newspaper and magazine articles in college. She discusses her freelance writing after leaving college and her decision to eventually going back to earn a graduate degree from Oklahoma State University to teach reading, math, and alternative education for thirteen years. Martin also reads some of her work, explains her writing process, and points out some of the differences between writers and other artists.
