Dr. Stefani Boutelier, associate professor of education at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, describes her experience writing during the COVID-19 pandemic as a time of mindful poetic journaling, when flexible scheduling allowed her more time to write about new topics that she found authentic and insightful. She discusses the ways she placed a priority on Social-Emotional aspects of learning in the context of content area learning and shares her hopes that the pandemic has brought to light the need for addressing issues of equity in access to technology. She shares several poems during the interview, one of which was co-authored with her daughter, London, and published in a journal.
