Tyrone Penick 04/08/2012

Tyrone Penick was born in Lawton, Oklahoma, and grew up in Tipton. His great-grandfather and grandfather had settled in the Wichita Mountains area, where his father was also born and raised, and all four Penick generations were very interested in the history of southwest Oklahoma. Over the years, they did extensive research about the area and went on numerous treasure hunts to find lost artifacts that were left behind over the centuries. Penick lived in Tipton until he graduated high school, and from there he went to the University of Oklahoma and Abilene Christian University. He worked for Sears for several years, living in Texas, but in 1976 moved back to Altus to help his father run the family store. In 2010, he closed the store and retired, but he still has an active interest in the treasures and the people of southwest Oklahoma.
